Florida Man Arrested After Couple Stabbed In Their Bridgewater Home
BRIDGEWATER (CBS) - A Florida man has been charged in the stabbing of a married couple inside their Bridgewater home. Police say 27-year-old Andrew Soto had flown in Sunday night and was staying with his stepfather and his wife.
Police said they received several 911 calls about a stabbing at a house on Yoke Road around 5:30 a.m.
Responding officers found a 50-year-old man suffering from six knife wounds to his upper body and torso and his 46-year-old wife suffering from more than a dozen knife wounds to her head, neck, and face.
Both were conscious and alert. Police said they were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Soto, of Leesburg, Florida, was arrested without incident at the scene. He was booked at the Bridgewater Police Department and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Soto is accused of stabbing the woman 19 times. His stepfather was stabbed trying to stop the assault.
"This morning, the female victim woke up for work around 5:30 a.m. at which time she was called into the hallway by the suspect in which he assaulted her with a knife several times. The male victim attempted to stop the assault at the time when doing so he also received several stabbing wounds," Police Capt. Thomas Schlatz told reporters at a news conference.
The woman was able to run to a neighbor's house to call 911. The man also called 911.
No one else was home at the time.
Police said Soto was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and mayhem.
