79-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Hit By Van In Parking Lot
NASHUA, N.H. (CBS) -- A 79-year-old woman died after she was pinned under a van in Nashua, N.H. Monday. Police said the crash occurred in the parking lot of Bridges by EPOCH Memory Care Center on Amherst Street around 12 p.m.
"Nashua Fire Rescue utilized equipment to lift the vehicle and the victim was found deceased," said a statement from police.
It is unclear what caused the crash. The 80-year-old man driving the vehicle is cooperating with police.
Workers at the assisted living facility said the woman did not live there and she may have been visiting someone or taking part in one of the support group activities.
"The woman was underneath the vehicle already and it was propped up," said one witness. "It's pretty sad because I mean, when you look at it, it doesn't make sense how something like that could happen."
Witness Matthew Sayahi said, "I think heard like a crash or something, and then I go outside and there was the fire department everywhere, police and stuff...I feel bad for the friends and family of this lady, they must be in a hard place right now."
Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to call the Nashua Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at 603-594-3500.
