Breather Offers Private Work Spaces In Boston By The Hour
BOSTON (CBS) - A start-up company that offers rooms by the hour is not what you think.
Breather offers quiet, private meeting and work spaces through its app.
They cost between $25 and $40 an hour.
There are now five locations in the Boston area.
"People, every little while, need a place of their own so that they're not stuck at Starbucks or wherever else, trying to get work done," Breather co-founder and CEO Julien Smith told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
Customers have rented the spaces for everything from client meetings to taking a power nap.
"We sort of provide sort of a sanctuary that allows you to go and get work done, or get on the phone or whatever else," Smith said.
"The first time, they might have a reaction like – what, what is this exactly? And they're not sure if it's an office space or whatever else. But, when they use the service for the first time when they walk through the door, it's really clear it's a really powerful thing. It's even clearer when you realize there's like 100 locations across the United States."
Smith says he hopes to have 500 Breather spaces available nationwide in a few years.
Right now, you can find them in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Montreal and Ottawa.
