Breast Cancer Research Foundation To Hold 14th Annual Boston Hot Pink Party
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Breast Cancer Research Foundation's 14th Annual Boston Hot Pink Party will be held on April 23, 2019, at the InterContinental Boston. The event is hosted by WBZ-TV anchor Paula Ebben.
New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and Linda Holliday will be honored with the Carolyn Lynch Humanitarian Award, and guests will be treated to a concert performance.
BCRF anticipates raising more than $1.75 million for breast cancer research in one night. The funds raised in Boston will help support the Foundation's 40 New England based investigators.
This year, BCRF has awarded more than $8 million in grants and more than $81 million cumulatively to lifesaving research in the region.
Dr. Judy Garber, the BCRF co-scientific director, sat down with WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben and Liam Martin Wednesday.
She said, "We cure patients every day, partly that's because we have learned that some tumors are more easily cured and we try not to overtreat them, so less chemotherapy. We have ways of analyzing the tumor so we can avoid chemotherapy but still cure the patient. We don't cure every patient, but patients who are too positive, that subside of patients we cure. That was the worst most aggressive breast cancer and today those patients are cured most of the time. We do cure breast cancer, but we haven't figured out how to prevent it."
