Dave Silverman was a troubled young man from West Roxbury who experienced verbal and physical anti-Semitic abuse. His parents gave him an opportunity to move to a kibbutz in Israel to start a new life. Since then he has lived, loved, and fought for the "Land of Milk and Honey."
I recently sat down with Dave on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem to get his story. This is the first of three video segments in which Mr. Silverman provides an understanding of what Israel means to him and thousands like him.
In future segments, we will hear about life in the Israeli military and what it is like to live in an environment that features enemy missiles flying overhead on the way to work.
