I-Team: Driver Arraigned On 11 Larceny Charges In Alleged Airport Limo Scam

BOSTON (CBS) - A former business owner who left his customers stranded at the airport, but took their money anyway, was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Wednesday.

Brad K. Dunbar, 48, is charged with 11 misdemeanor counts of larceny by false pretense.

In May, Dunbar and his business, Boston Elite Transportation, was the focus of an I-Team investigation.

The I-Team interviewed more than a dozen customers who booked round trip rides to Logan Airport. However, at the last minute, the customers said the company canceled the service, but still charged their credit cards.

When they demanded a refund and an explanation, many of those customers received rude text messages.

The negative backlash even started to affect another transportation service with a similar name, forcing the business owner to change it.

Dunbar has shut his business down and deactivated the web site. The I-Team also confirmed he has refunded several customers since the story aired.

Dunbar was released on a $10,000 personal surety and ordered to stay away from all victims and witnesses involved in the case. He will be back in court on August 31.

Prosecutors requested Dunbar not be allowed to work in the livery or transportation business. However, the judge will allow him to continue working as a driver at another company where he is not in charge of billing.
