Boy Turns In $8,000 Found At Salem Park To Police; Money Returned To Owner

SALEM (CBS) -- Aiden Wright is only 7 years old, but he has a great lesson to teach everyone.

His character was tested on Saturday morning when he found several thousand dollars at Memorial Park in Salem.

"I ran up the slide and there was this black check book, and I opened it up and found $8,000 in it and brought it to my uncle," Aiden said.

While some would probably hesitate, Aiden and his uncle did not. They immediately turned it in to police.

Turns out the money belongs to Elias Santos, a hard-working contractor who had just been paid.

"I am so grateful because we don't have people like this no more," Santos said.

To thank Aiden for his honesty, Elias gave him $100.

"We go to Sunday school and he's been taught to do the right thing. This shows the lessons had been learned and we are so proud," says Ellen Wright, Aiden's mother.
