17-Year-Old Drowns In Charles River

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- The body of a 17-year-old boy was pulled from the Charles River Friday night, Massachusetts State Police said.

State Police said the boy went into the water around 8:45 p.m. Friday after going into the water near the Weeks Footbridge in Cambridge.

Witnesses told police they saw him go into the water and come up with his arms flailing, before going under the water and not coming back up.

His body was found about 25 minutes later by divers from the Cambridge Fire Department.

He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

He has not yet been identified.
