Boston's Only All-Girls' Catholic High School To Close
DORCHESTER (CBS) -- Students at Elizabeth Seton Academy in Dorchester are looking for a new school to attend after the Catholic prep school announced it is closing its doors for good before the 2016/2017 academic year.
In a letter sent to parents, the school cited its decision to close based on its "current financial situation, increased debt obligations, declining enrollment, and increased costs of operations."
The school's faculty and staff were informed about the closure last week.
Elizabeth Seton Academy, Boston's only all girls' Catholic college preparatory high school, plans to hold a meeting in the coming days to help families transition to other area Catholic schools. Faculty and staff will also be offered severance packages and referrals to other Catholic schools.
