Mass. Residents Claim $1 Million Powerball Prizes

BRAINTREE (CBS) -- The two $1 million Powerball prizes sold in Massachusetts have been claimed.

Keith Bauer of Charlestown and Robert Dole of East Bridgewater both matched the first five numbers in Wednesday's drawing.

Bauer and his wife Sara claimed the prize at the Massachusetts State Lottery's headquarters in Braintree. Bauer purchased the Quic Pic ticket at 777 Convenience Store on Main Street in Charlestown.

Bauer said he plans to use the money to pay off his and his wife's student loans, and to help their parents.

Robert Dole was joined by his wife Susan to claim the prize. He bought his winning ticket at Tedeschi Food Shops on Bedford Street in East Bridgewater. Dole says he used a combination of birthdays and anniversaries to select his numbers.

The Doles are interested in buying a newer house and plan to travel somewhere warm.

The stores that sold the tickets will get a $10,000.

Three winning tickets, bought in Melbourne Beach, Florida, Munford, Tennessee, and Chino Hills, California split the record-breaking $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot Wednesday night.
