Tractor-Trailer Driver Cited After Ted Williams Tunnel Crash Snarled Morning Traffic

BOSTON (CBS) – A tractor-trailer driver was cited following a crash inside the Ted Williams Tunnel that snarled traffic during the Tuesday morning commute.

The ramp from the tunnel was completely shut down around 7:30 a.m. and closed for over an hour.

As a result of the crash, there was no access from the Mass Pike westbound to Interstate 93 north or south. In addition, there was no access to I-93 north or south from the Seaport Congress Street ramp. Both ramps were closed until around 9 a.m.

The driver, a 28-year-old Methuen man, was not hurt in the crash. He was cited for speeding.

Police said the driver was out of the truck and walking around when they arrived.
