Getting Ready For Winter: Boston Receives First Salt Delivery
BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston may have just gone through a heat wave, but the city is already preparing for winter.
The first salt delivery was made on Thursday morning to a Public Works site on Frontage Road. Three thousand tons of salt will be delivered Thursday, and another 9,000 tons are expected to come in by next week.

Last winter was a record-setting one for Boston, and if the Farmers' Almanac is to be believed, the region could be in for above-average snowfall once again.
Daniel Nee, DPW supervisor for the city, remembers last winter well.
"I did 72 straight days in February and March," he said. "Everyone was going 24/7, there was no rest."
