Boston RunBase Opens As 'Hub' For Marathon Runners, Supporters

BOSTON (CBS) – A new facility on Boylston Street opened Thursday that is a combination clubhouse, store and museum for Boston Marathon runners and supporters.

Mayor Marty Walsh was on hand to help cut the ribbon on Boston RunBase, a 2,000-square foot facility located on Boylston Street at around the 26-mile mark of the Boston Marathon.

Boston RunBase has a variety of features, including historic items and a treadmill that allows participants to simulate a run of the marathon route.

The facility is a partnership between the Boston Athletic Association, Marathon Sports and Adidas.

"RunBase is really for us the hub of the runner's life," Chris Brewer, director of running for Adidas America, told WBZ-TV. "They can come here and we have in the back showers and facilities, locker rooms, so they can come here take a shower, go for a run, all that kind of stuff. It's a really unique experience."
