Boston Red Sox World Series Parade Set For Wednesday
BOSTON (CBS) – Fire up the duck boats for a 2018 Boston Red Sox World Series parade on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh made the official announcement at a news conference at City Hall Monday morning. He also noted that there will be no rally at City Hall Plaza after the parade
"These players are role models and we want to celebrate them in Boston style," Walsh told reporters.
The parade will begin on Boylston Street near Fenway Park and continue all the way down to Boston Common, where the duck boats will take a left onto Tremont Street.
"It'll continue up Tremont to Cambridge and end at Staniford Street." Walsh said.
He warned fans to take the MBTA into the city because they'll have several traffic and parking restrictions around the route.
"If you come in early, I suggest you come in around 8 o'clock," Walsh said. "Don't do anything on the streets of Boston on Wednesday morning that you wouldn't do in front of your own house. Be respectful of the city."
"We've been here before, let's act like it. So we would ask everyone to act responsibly and be respectful of the other revelers in the parade," said Police Commissioner William Gross.
The city has set up a website with more detailed information about the parade at boston.gov.
Great weather is forecast Wednesday, with temperatures nearing 60 degrees in the early afternoon.
This will be Boston's 11th championship parade since 2002. Walsh said this will be his first Red Sox parade as mayor.
