Boston Police Investigate South End Sexual Assault Of Girl

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston police are investigating the sexual assault of a girl Sunday evening in the South End.

Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault just after 8 p.m. Sunday near Shawmut Avenue and Brandon Harris Way.

The girl told WBZ she was playing with her friends when a man came behind her and grabbed her – touching her inappropriately. The girl who is not even a teenager said she knew what to do. She said she kicked the man between the legs and he ran.

Her mother said the attack made her angry and she is keeping her daughter close by at all times.

The child's friend said he ran around the block and then she lost sight of him. She was one of several witnesses.

Witnesses told police that a group of children were playing in the areas when they were approached by a man they did not know. The stranger then indecently assaulted the girl over her clothes, police said.

According to police, the suspect fled on foot toward Lenox Street. Police said witnesses told them the suspect may be familiar in the area.

Police describe the suspect as a black or Hispanic man in his mid- to late 30s, bald, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, with a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants or jeans, and dark foot wear.
