Boston Police Investigate North End Sex Assault

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Police are investigating a new report of a sexual assault in the North End. The victim told officers she was assaulted Sunday night while entering her apartment building in the area of Salem and Hull streets.

A similar attack happened about a block away last month. In both cases, the victim told police her attacker forced his way inside a foyer, assaulted the woman, and ran.

The victim described the suspect as a white man in his thirties, 5'10" to 6" tall, about 200lbs, with short brown hair, wearing a dark colored coat and dark colored jeans.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the February assault, but a judge said he was skeptical and told prosecutors to provide more evidence. The suspect was released without bail and ordered to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet until his next court appearance. Investigators checked that suspect's bracelet and he was not in the area at the time of Sunday's assault.
