Boston Mayor Joins State Transportation Chief On T Red Line To Promote Idea Week

BOSTON (CBS) – Some commuters were surprised to find Mayor Marty Walsh and state Transportation Secretary Richard Davey riding the MBTA's Red Line with them Friday morning.

Walsh and Davey were traveling between Park Street Station and Ashmont Station as a part of Idea Week in Boston.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Karen Twomey reports

They took time to show off idea boards located at certain stops where T riders can jot down their thoughts with markers. At Ashmont the boards asked for visions for public transportation in 2020.

"The idea board was an idea folks came up with to generate civic conversation." Davey said.

Davey wrote on the board that he wants the MBTA to be "well-funded." Walsh's contribution to the board was a wish to see 24-hour service.
