Boston Globe Brings Back Old Distributor After Delivery Problems

BOSTON (CBS) - After a week of home delivery problems, the Boston Globe is bringing back its old distributor. The company will share duties with the new distributor the Globe recently hired.

On NightSide with Dan Rea, Boston Globe CEO Mike Sheehan said ACI Media and the previous delivery company, PCF, will now split up the territory.

"ACI will take the distribution center where they're currently performing the best and PCF will take over the distribution centers that need the most help right now that have suffered the most disruption," Sheehan said.

Apparently, the new distributor's software plotted routes that were so inefficient, many new drivers quit.

Globe Publisher John Henry issued an apology Tuesday night, saying "We recognize that you depend on us, and that we've let you down. We're working around the clock on a variety of fronts to solve this."

Sheehan said he expects some delivery disruptions through this week.
