Woman Hit By Stolen Amtrak Truck In Seaport, Police Search For Driver
BOSTON (CBS) -- Police are looking for the driver who stole an Amtrak truck in Boston Friday, hit a woman and took off.
Amtrak said the pickup was stolen from a work site just before noon and a short time later it struck a light pole, at least two parked cars and then a woman near the Moakley Federal Court House in the Seaport. The driver ran off.
"... he just hit my car and pushed my car into the middle of the road," said Kia owner Edson Lacerda, who was actually in his car when it was hit.
The driver continued on, hit a pedestrian, drove off, hitting Barry Ryan's car and a stoplight.
"At first I said, 'Wow, look at that light post on the ground and then I realized my car had been hit, too," Ryan said.
That light damaged the truck's rear tire, and the driver took off on foot.
The woman struck by the truck was carried away on a stretcher with what appeared to be a leg injury. Amtrak said her injuries were not "life-threatening."
An Amtrak spokesperson told WBZ-TV they are working with Boston Police to find the driver.
