Boston City Hall Plaza To Hold World Cup Viewing Party For U.S.-Belgium Match On July 1

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston mayor Marty Walsh saw the city successfully host a World Cup viewing party for the U.S.-Germany match on Thursday, and he's ready to do it again.

The mayor's office announced Friday that, together with the New England Revolution, the city will host another viewing party for U.S. soccer. This one will take place Tuesday, July 1 at 3:30 p.m., once again at City Hall Plaza. The game begins at 4 p.m.

The United States will play against Belgium on Tuesday in the knockout stage, meaning the games are now single elimination.

The large crowd that gathered at City Hall Plaza on Thursday did not get to celebrate a victory, as the U.S. lost to Germany 1-0. However, thanks to Portugal's win over Ghana, the U.S. earned a trip out of group play, leading to happy crowds around the entire country.

The Revolution street team, known as the Battalion, will be in attendance, along with the Rev Girls and the team's mascot, Slyde.

The crowd gathered at City Hall Plaza for Thursday's game grew as the game went on. Considering the stakes are raised for this game and the fact that it might be easier for city workers to slip out of work a few minutes early on Tuesday than it was to leave mid-day on Thursday, an even bigger crowd is likely to be on hand Tuesday.
