Tuukka Rask Out Sick, Gustavsson Starting In Critical Bruins Season Finale
BOSTON (CBS) – With their season hanging in the balance, the Bruins are without goaltender Tuukka Rask.
Boston announced late Saturday morning that goalie Jeremy Smith had been called up from Providence on an emergency basis.
As the team took the ice for warmups at TD Garden, the reason became clear.
Backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson led the team out for warmups, meaning he took over between the pipes.
Rask was on the ice for warmups, but faced only a small amount of shots before leaving the ice.
Gustavsson is 4-3-0 with a 2.05 GAA and .930 save percentage in eight career games against the Senators.
Boston takes on Ottawa in the team's season finale, needing a victory and help from either Detroit or Philadelphia to reach the postseason.
