Brad Marchand Named NHL's First Star Of Week

BOSTON (CBS) -- Brad Marchand's big week for the Bruins earned him a weekly honor in the NHL.

The B's winger had four goals and a pair of assists in Boston's three games last week --  all Bruins wins -- to finish with a plus-three rating. On Monday, he was named the NHL's First Star of the Week.

Marchand had two points in each of Boston's three wins last week, and scored the game-winner in his two-goal performance against the Florida Panthers on Friday night.

In eight games this season, the 27-year-old Marchand has five goals and four assists. His five scores rank him second on the team (behind David Krejci's seven tallies on the season), while his nine points are good for third (behind Krejci's 15 points and Patrice Bergeron's 10 points).

St. Louis' Jake Allen and Edmonton's Taylor Hall were named the second and third stars of the week, respectively.
