Body Of NH Marine Killed In Afghanistan Returned To Hometown
PETERBOROUGH, NH (CBS) - The body of a Marine who died last week in Afghanistan was returned to his hometown in New Hampshire on Saturday.
Cpl. Brandon Garabrant, 19, who was posthumously promoted to corporal this week, was one of three U.S. service members killed by a roadside bomb last Friday.
His casket arrived at the Wiggins Terminal of the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport late Saturday morning.
After a brief ceremony at the airport, police, fire, Marines and members of the Patriot Guard escorted Garabrant's remains to the Jellison Funeral Home in Peterborough N. H.
A number of people came out to watch the procession and show support for the fallen Marine.
According to the funeral home, visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 3rd from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at ConVal High School at 184 Hancock Road, Peterborough, NH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 5th at 10 a.m. at ConVal High School.
Following the service, Garabrant will be laid to rest in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
