Billerica Home Invasion Suspect Arrested After Extensive Search

BILLERICA (CBS) – A home invasion suspect was arrested following an extensive search that forced an elementary school in Billerica to shelter-in-place.

A Maplewood Ave. resident told Billerica police that Friday around noon a man broke into his house holding a knife and demanding his wallet.

Before police arrived at the home, the suspect was gone.

As a result of the armed suspect at large, nearby Dutile Elementary School was ordered to shelter-in-place until a controlled dismissal could take place.

During their investigation into another Maplewood Ave. burglary which happened earlier in the week, police identified 26-year-old Jonathan Aquino, a resident of the street, as a suspect.

Aquino was found and arrested. He was charged with home invasion and receiving stolen property.

K-9 units from Chelmsford, Burlington and Wilmington joined the Massachusetts State Police helicopter in searching for Aquino.

Police believe the Billerica resident was acting alone and do not have any additional suspects.
