Bill Belichick Didn't Notice Taunting Banner Flying Over Patriots Practice
BOSTON (CBS) -- Bill Belichick's focus is squarely on football right now.
The Patriots head coach has blocked out all the noise from the offseason (you know, that controversy over air in footballs), he's moved on from his latest Super Bowl Championship and has his players focused on one day at a time.
It's nothing new for Bill Belichick.
In fact, he's so focused he didn't even notice a plane flying overhead Thursday at New England's first practice of training camp. Granted, most planes wouldn't draw much attention, but this one had a special message aimed at the Patriots.
The small plane dragged a banner that read, "Cheaters Look Up."
Belichick didn't look up, and he wouldn't take the bait when he was asked about it on Friday.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said with a cold stare after a moment of silence. "What plane? I'm just trying to coach a football team."
With all that is going on around the Patriots, he was also asked if he ever catches himself hoping to go out and win every game by 50 points, just to stick it to commissioner Roger Goodell. The coach didn't bite with this question either, seeming a little perturbed by the question.
"Right now I'm really focused on what we're doing today. I'm not thinking about the past, not last week, not last year or some other year. We have to prepare our team for the opener and a 16-game regular season schedule. We really can't do much of that right now, it's not the time for it," he said. "I'm not going to worry about next month or next year or six months from now. I know that's real important to everyone else, but I don't think it's very important to me or our football team.
"With all due respect, it's not something I think about or care about, even though it seems to be important to everyone else. It's just not on our radar," he said with a brief stare before the next question was asked.
