Beach Week: Mayflower Beach In Dennis

DENNIS (CBS) - What a great day to kick off Beach Week! Weather couldn't be better, ocean temperatures are rising, and most kids are now out of school.

We start the week with our 5th rated New England beach (as voted on by our viewers), Mayflower Beach in Dennis.

Mayflower Beach is known for its hundreds of feet of tidal flats seen at low tide. It is just one of the 16 beaches in Dennis and is without a doubt one of the most scenic.

There is also a boardwalk area which stretches from a large public parking lot over to the dunes leading to the beach below.

There are lifeguards on duty, food and restrooms and a picnic area as well.

Mayflower beach looks out over Cape Cod Bay, current water temperatures are right around 64 degrees…a bit chilly, but they are on the rise!

A mere 79 miles from Boston, Mayflower Beach is a terrific location for families looking for a fun day on the water.
