Autographed Patriots Helmet Stolen From Foxboro Restaurant Returned

FOXBORO (CBS) – A helmet autographed by the Super Bowl XLIX champion New England Patriots stolen from a restaurant at Patriot Place has been returned.

It was taken back on August 11 from Skipjack's by a man wearing a Tom Brady jersey. Surveillance video from the restaurant showed him climb over the bar, take the helmet and wrap it in his jersey before walking out.

He also failed to pay his bill.

Skipjacks manager Andrea Cermakova told WBZ-TV the man called the next day and said he was going to mail the helmet back.

It took nearly two weeks, but Cermakova said the helmet was mailed back to them Wednesday with a written apology on a card.

It also had cash to cover the thief's restaurant bill.

Police are still looking into the incident, but Cermakova said the restaurant will not press charges.
