Fire Burns Through Group Home In Auburn

AUBURN (CBS) -- Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at a group home early Sunday morning.

The Auburn Fire Department responded to the home on Jefferson Drive shortly after the staff called 911 to report seeing smoke and fire.

The fire was coming from the basement, and was quickly put out.

Auburn Fire Chief Stephen Coleman said the staff and residents got out safely because the building was equipped with working smoke detectors.

Nobody was injured, and five people were displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause was not yet known, but did not appear to be suspicious.
