Attleboro Road Rage Suspect Commits Suicide in Jail
ATTLEBORO (CBS) - A suspect in a road rage incident in Attleboro last month was found dead in his jail cell Wednesday a day after he threatened to kill himself while in Attleboro District Court.
His attorney declined our request for a recorded interview. But he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Bernice Corpuz he wants a full investigation on what happened.
Attorney Nicolas Gordon tells WBZ he's outraged. He says the Bristol County Sheriff's department failed to take "reasonable measures" to prevent his client, Brandon St. Pierre, from hanging himself.
The 32-year-old from Fall River threatened to commit suicide during a mental screening in court Tuesday. That prompted the judge to issue a "Q5" order. Gordon says that means St. Pierre was a suicide risk and was supposed to be under constant surveillance.
On Wednesday, the judge also approved Gordon's motion to transfer his client to MCI-Shirley "to protect the defendant's physical safety."
Bristol county Sheriff Tom Hodgson says the order came in late.
