Worker dies after being electrocuted in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE – A worker died Tuesday morning after he was electrocuted at AT&T in Cambridge.

It happened around 8:45 a.m. on Bent Street.

Rescuers performed CPR on the worker following the incident. The worker was rushed to Mass General Hospital but later died.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said the 44-year-old Sturbridge man appeared to have been working on an emergency lighting conduit when the incident happened.  

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating.

Karen Twomey, a spokesperson for AT&T, released a statement following the worker's death.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of this contractor's employee, and our thoughts are with this person's family, friends and colleagues. We're working closely with investigators and the contractor to determine what happened here.
