Arrest Made In Fatal Holyoke Stabbing

HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — Police have made an arrest in Holyoke's first homicide of the year.

Lt. Larry Cournoyer says a 40-year-old city man was arrested early Monday morning in connection with the stabbing Sunday.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately made public, is facing arraignment Monday.

Police say the victim was stabbed in the neck after an argument with the suspect outside a convenience store just before noon Sunday. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released his identity.

Police say the slaying was not gang-related and had nothing to do with the Hispanic Family Festival Parade, which was taking place a few blocks away.
