Armed Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Standoff In Bourne

BOURNE (CBS) -- A man who robbed a Bourne bank with a BB gun on Saturday was arrested after a short standoff with police, officials said.

Bourne police say 57-year-old Lewis Thomas Moses Jr., of Buzzards Bay, walked into the TD Bank on Barlows Landing Road at 12:17 p.m., brandished a firearm and demanded money. He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, prompting an extensive search, authorities said.

A witness saw the man flee to the wooded area near Commerce Park Road, where police said they found him with a firearm and money in hand. He gave up his weapon, later determined to be a BB gun, and was arrested after a short standoff, police said.

Officers from Bourne, Massachusetts State police and Barnstable County Sheriffs Office assisted in the arrest.
