Analysis: Hernandez Lied To Kraft After Odin Lloyd Murder

BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots Owner Robert Kraft testified Tuesday morning that Aaron Hernandez told him he had been at a night club at the time Odin Lloyd was murdered.

"The evidence is clear. He was not at a club," said WBZ legal analyst Harry Manion. "He was about five minutes from his house."

While it's a lie that undoubtedly hurt Hernandez's defense, Manion says the testimony, "did not have the dramatic impact it should have."

"I do not think the prosecution brought it out in the most compelling way," he said. "They didn't do it clearly, and they didn't do it directly."

Manion added that Kraft looked  "bewildered and befuddled," during the prosecution's questioning, mainly because the prosecution "did not control the flow of information."

During the testimony, Kraft described having a close relationship with Hernandez.

"I wanted to know whether he was involved," Kraft said. "Any player who comes into our system I consider part of our extended family, I wanted to get him help."
