Amy Lord's Mother Tearfully Recalls Learning Of Daughter's Murder

BOSTON (CBS) - -Amy Lord's mother broke down on the stand as she described the moment police detectives informed her of her daughter's death.

Amy Lord was kidnapped and murdered in Boston in July of 2013 when she was 24 years old. The jury in the trial of accused killer Edwin Alemany heard from her heartbroken mother, Cindy Lord, on Tuesday morning.

On the witness stand, Lord was asked what police told her after the Wilbraham native went missing in Boston.

"To let us know that they had found Amy, and that she was gone," Lord said.

Cindy Lord said she and her husband were frantic earlier when they found out their daughter was missing. She said they repeatedly tried calling and texting Amy, but got no response.

Lord tearfully identified a necklace she and her husband gave her for her 23rd birthday. Their daughter was wearing it in an ATM video before Alemany allegedly killed her and left her body in a Boston park.

"She's wearing the angel's wing necklace," Lord said.

Alemany showed no emotion during Cindy Lord's testimony. His lawyers are planning an insanity defense.
