Amy Lord's Family Describes 'Unimaginable' Loss At Killer's Sentencing
BOSTON (CBS) -- The man convicted of killing Amy Lord was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Tuesday, and the 24-year-old victim's family and friends described their devastating loss.
Edwin Alemany, 30, will spend the rest of life behind bars for kidnapping Lord outside her South Boston apartment, beating her and forcing her to withdraw hundreds of dollars from several ATMs before dumping her stabbed body in a park.
Lawyers unsuccessfully argued an insanity defense for Alemany, who sat with his head down on the table as victim impact statements were read.
Amy Lord's mother, Cindy, called her daughter's death "a senseless act of violence."

"The reality for us is there will never truly be closure," Lord's mother Cindy said. "There are not words to describe what we lost and how our lives have forever changed. . . there will always be an unimaginable, unrelenting pain."
Sibling Emily Lord said Amy was the epitome of what a big sister should be.
"Amy was the girl everyone wanted to be," Emily Lord said. "It will always be bittersweet knowing that she'll never be able to tell me what I want to hear most – that she's proud of me."
Another woman who was stabbed by Alemany told the court she got an angel's wing tattoo after the attack, and said Amy Lord is her guardian angel.
"I won, he didn't win," Kayleigh Ballantyne said.
A prosecutor told reporters after Alemany's sentencing that "the punishment fits the crime."
Alemany's mother also reacted to the sentencing, telling media that she's sad for Lord's family, but is concerned her son won't get the help he needs in prison.
