Amendola, Patriots Play Waiter For Charity
BOSTON (CBS) -- Members of the New England Patriots traded in their helmets for aprons on Wednesday night, serving food to guests at Danny Amendola's first Boston Celebrity Waiter Night.
Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Vince Wilfork and others helped their teammate serve nearly 200 guests at the Towne Stove and Spirits in Boston, raising money for Amendola's Catches For Kids Foundation. The money raised at the event will help local students stock up their backpacks before heading back to school next fall.
"We are basically just trying to raise as much money as we can to provide for kids in schools; backpacks, shoes, school supplies, books," said Amendola. "We just want to help out as much as we can."
In addition to being served a three-course dinner (prepared by Towne Executive Chef Mark Allen) by some of their favorite players, attendees also participated in a live and silent auction to benefit Amendola's foundation, and got to take pictures and receive autographs throughout the evening.
