Patient Dies After Ambulance Rolls Over In Milford

MILFORD (CBS/AP) -- Police say a patient being transported to the hospital for dialysis treatment died after the ambulance she was in crashed in Milford.

The ambulance was en route to Milford Regional Medical Center at about 11 a.m. Tuesday when it was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Route 140. The ambulance rolled over and came to rest upright on top of the guardrail.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe reports

Police say the patient, 58-year-old Karen Scott of Upton, was picked up by another ambulance and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities say Scott died as a result of the crash.

A paramedic in the ambulance was also injured. The driver was not hurt.

A surveillance camera at a nearby pizza shop captured the accident. It shows a Mercedes Benz running a stop sign at Green Street and Cape Road. The car clips the ambulance sending it into a skid and causing it to roll over. Police have identified the driver of that car as 61-year-old Lisa Zemack of Framingham. Zemack could face charges ranging from failure to stop to motor vehicle homicide.
