Amber Alert Issued For Missing RI Boy, Mother

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (CBS/AP) — Police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 6-year-old from Woonsocket who may have been taken out of Rhode Island in violation of a family court order.

Authorities say Daniel Britt was last seen a week ago with his mother, Andria Britt. They say she may be en route to Washington state.

Wednesday's alert says Andria Britt had shared custody with Daniel's father but skipped a court date last week and failed to return the boy to him. It says the court has granted the father sole custody.

Daniel's father, Sean Britt, says the Amber Alert gives him hope. "I'm still, you know, upset, worried sick," Sean says. "But knowing that it's going to be out there for everybody to see his picture, see her picture, her car, license plate number, somebody hopefully will spot it and do the right thing and bring Daniel home."

Authorities said Andria Britt drives a red 2004 Ford Focus with Rhode Island license plate number 942649. She's 35, 135 pounds and 5 feet, 5 inches.

Daniel Britt has blue eyes and brown hair. He is 4 feet, 3 inches and 50 pounds.

Police officers from Woonsocket were in Newton, Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon trying to track down family and friends of Andria. Andria's sister lives in the area, but police would not say if they talked to her. Waltham Police had originally reported that Andria's cell phone was pinged in Newton. Woonsocket Police now say it was the sister's phone that officers were tracking.

"I just want him home, I just want him home. That's all," Sean Britt said. "If she wants to drop him off at a hospital, church, police station, whatever. Just drop my son off."
