Alfredo Paratore, Lynn Man Charged With Murdering Mother, Ordered To Undergo Mental Health Evaluation
LYNN (CBS) – Alfredo Paratore, a Lynn man charged with murdering his 80-year-old mother, was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation Monday.
Katherine Paratore was found dead in her home on Jenness Street Friday night.
According to court documents, Katherine was covered in bruises on both arms, neck, and head.
Alfredo Paratore, 49, is charged with murder. He was arraigned Monday in Lynn District Court and pleaded not guilty.
A judge ordered he undergo a mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.
Court paperwork shows Alfredo Paratore called 911 because he believed his mother was dead on the floor.
Police reports say he appeared to be on drugs while they were questioning him Friday at the crime scene. Paratore was given multiple doses of Narcan and eventually taken to Salem Hospital.
"She was always pleasant to me. She would say hello, how are you if I pulled up," said neighbor Mark Saradella about Katherine Paratore.
Members of the Paratore family did not comment leaving court following his arrangement. Alfredo Paratore is being held without bail.
"It's horrible, it's tragic. I don't know what more I can say about it. I'm not used to this kind of thing," said Saradella.
Alfredo Paratore's attorney also declined to comment.
