Aaron Hernandez To Be Arraigned In Witness Intimidation Case
BOSTON (AP) — Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is expected to be arraigned in a Boston courtroom Thursday on a charge accusing him of trying to silence a witness in a double murder case against him by shooting him in the face.
Hernandez was convicted last month in the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, who was dating his fiancee's sister.
He also faces two counts of murder in Boston, where he is accused of gunning down two men in 2012. The former tight tend was indicted earlier this month on a witness intimidation charge related to those killings.
Prosecutors said Hernandez shot the witness — who lost an eye — after he made a remark about the killings.
Prosecutors did not identify the man, but it is clear from earlier court proceedings it is former Hernandez friend Alexander Bradley.
