5 Years Of 98.5 The Sports Hub: The Best Of The Adam Jones Show

BOSTON (CBS) - It's hard to believe it's been half of a decade, but 98.5 The Sports Hub is turning five years old this week.

To help ring in this special occasion, we're reliving all the classic moments from each show -- handpicked by the on-air staff!

So without further ado, here's the Best Of The Adam Jones Show:

Adam Jones, Rich Keefe Impersonate John Sterling & Suzyn Waldman

From April 24, 2014:

During the Michael Pineda ejection in Wednesday night's Red Sox-Yankees game, the New York broadcast team of John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman weren't exactly painting a clear picture of what was going on.

Call it the hometown slant, homerism -- whatever you want. The two really seemed to take offense to the fact that Sox manager John Farrell would dare call out a Yankee for cheating, which was a topic of discussion Thursday afternoon on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Massarotti program.

This led Felger and Mazz to pull the tape from last night's Adam Jones Show. While Felger was driving home from Comcast, he heard part of the segment between Adam Jones and Rich Keefe when they were impersonating Sterling and Waldman.

Producer Josh Deering then overlayed the two clips and the results are spectacular. Spot on impersonations!

McGinest: Wes Welker 'Just A Guy' Before Patriots

The decision of the Patriots to not re-sign Wes Welker still stings and resonates with a lot of New England fans. In the summer of 2013, with an injured Rob Gronkowski, a jailed Aaron Hernandez and a trio of rookie wide receivers, Patriots fans were second-guessing the decision even more.

Former Patriot Willie McGinest, never one to mince words, came on with Adam Jones to offer his take.

From August 9, 2013:

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Welker said Belichick treated him differently during his final year in New England and would admonish him in front of the team -- something he hadn't done to that extreme before.

"When you talk about Bill Belichick and how he treats players and what he expects, before you walk in that door and sign a contract he lays it all on the line; he tells you what he expects from you, what your role is going to be, what he expects from you on and off the field. When you're here, we expect you to do everything in your power to win games, be a good teammate and give back," said McGinest, who played 12 seasons with the Patriots and was part of all three of their Super Bowl Championship teams.

"Wes has a personality; he's one of those guys who was very productive as a New England Patriot and you can't deny that. But it wasn't just Wes, it was the system. Wes was just a guy before he got to New England," said McGinest. "That offensive system that was in place allowed him to take his game to another level times ten."

"Of course, Bill Belichick, when it comes to certain things he's a lot different than other coaches. He doesn't want you talking to the media or giving other teams things to put on the bulletin board. He likes to keep everything in house -- take care of everything in the family," he said. "It wasn't tough. He has a sense of humor and he's not a robot like people say he is."

"Bill says and does things for a reason, he has a purpose. When you break it down and understand why he does things, it becomes less personal. It did for me," said McGinest.

"As far as calling out guys in the meeting rooms he did it to everybody -- he doesn't care who you are. From Tom Brady down to a practice squad guy it doesn't matter. From A-Z everyone is held accountable and everyone is treated the same. If there were some extracurricular things that happened then that was between Wes and Bill Belichick that I'm not aware of. That's between those two guys."

McGinest said that Belichick was no different towards him when he entered a contract year with the Patriots.

"He was the same, he always wants his players to be at their best and play at a high level," said McGinest. "I didn't deal with Belichick on my contract -- my talks were with Scott Piolli and my agent. I had some talks with Scott about wanting to be there and retiring a Patriot, but I never went into an office and had a full-on talk about a contract."

Keefer Madness: Bigfoot Hunter Rick Dyer

The Adam Jones Show has always been fascinated with the existence of Bigfoot, so back in February Rich Keefe tracked down Rick Dyer, the world's foremost expert on the topic and notable Bigfoot hunter.

From January 7, 2014:

Rich Keefe interviews Rick Dyer, the man who caught Bigfoot, on the latest edition of Keefer Madness.

Like Bigfoot himself, Dyer was very hard to track down, and once he was finally on the line, the connection wasn't great.

Talk about mystery and wonderment.

Dyer says he found a Bigfoot in 2008 which was already dead. But then, in a twist, the Bigfoot was stolen from him.

Later, he saw a Bigfoot dragging a deer across a road, an indication of the beastly power of the Bigfoot.

Dyer explains how he baited the Bigfoot and then caught him.

Listen to the whole interview. It's a once-in-a-lifetime type of chat!

Olympic Minute: Best Of 2012

From February 6, 2014:

The Adam Jones Show kicked off their coverage of the Sochi Olympics on Thursday night with Rich Keefe's "Olympic Minute."

Keefe will be bringing you a unique look at the winter games every night, depending on Celtics games. But instead of talking about the horrible bathrooms and mass dog killings in Russia, Keefe goes back to 2012 to relive one of his finest moments on the 98.5 The Sports Hub airwaves.

Do you remember Keefe breaking down Olympic race walking one Saturday afternoon, when Russia's Valeriy Borchin couldn't finish his race? Not only did Borchin crash into a wall, but he lost control of a certain bodily function (as Keefe put it, "he crapped his shorts.").

This caused Keefe to lose control himself (with laughter):

Jonathan Kraft: Bill Belichick Will Remain Patriots Coach 'For A Number Of Years To Come'

From January 3, 2013:

With news breaking earlier in the day that Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels turned down all interview requests for vacant head coaching jobs, speculation ran rampant about McDaniels perhaps being next in line to succeed 60-year-old Bill Belichick as Patriots head coach, whenever that may be.

Kraft said it's still too early to discuss succession at the head coach position.

"I think you don't really talk about succession planning at that level of specifics until you know somebody has a plan to leave," Kraft told Jones. "Everything I've heard from Bill and everything that I know is that Bill plans on being the coach of the New England Patriots for a number of years to come."

Jones also asked Kraft about the great mystery that is Bill Belichick's contract.

"We don't talk about Bill's contract. That's the way we like it, and it's the way Bill likes it," Kraft said. "We're really focused on playing football. I think it's safe to say that our family and Bill and this franchise have had a relationship now for 13 years. Hopefully ... not hopefully -- definitively, it will be one that will continue for many more."

Adam Jones & Rich Keefe Impersonate Jerry Remy's Tooth Falling Out Mid-Broadcast

From July 3, 2014:

In the final game of a series in which they were swept, the Red Sox were trounced by the Cubs 16-9 in front of the Fenway faithful.

Aside from Mookie Betts hitting his first major league home run, the game itself was quite uneventful. The Sox were down three runs before they could even blink and were never really a threat to take the lead.

For those watching on NESN, the biggest highlight of the game came in the fourth inning when television analyst Jerry Remy lost his tooth. Just fell right out of his mouth. Remy tried to put it back in to no avail and will likely be scheduling an appointment with his orthodontist in the near future.

Well this got the wheels spinning on 98.5 The Sports Hub's The Adam Jones Show.

Adam Jones and Rich Keefe have done impersonations before, most notably their spot-on interpretation of John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman during the Michael Pineda pine tar incident.

Guess what folks? Sterling and Waldman are back.

Jones and Keefe once again take on the roles of John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, only this time Sterling is taking on the role of Don Orsillo, and Waldman as Remy.

"It's an impression of an impression. Like a movie within a movie," joked Keefe.
