Marathon Monday Forecast Good News For Spectators, Not Runners
BOSTON (CBS) – This is definitely one of those good news/bad news forecasts.
Actually, for those other than the 30,000 folks running 26.2 miles on Monday, and winter lovers like our own Barry Burbank, the news isn't just good - it is great!
Marathon Monday Forecast
Nearly wall-to-wall sunshine is expected through the weekend and into Marathon Monday with temperatures climbing to 60 (inland) on Sunday and 70+ just about everywhere on Monday.
Spring has officially sprung.
The Bad News
For those running in the 120th Boston Marathon on Monday, it is going to be very warm.
In fact, Monday will likely be the warmest day since we hit a whopping 77 on March 9.
Temperatures in the 70s may be ideal for spectators and Red Sox fans at Fenway Park, but for most runners it is a solid 20 degrees over the "perfect" running temperature.
This year's marathon will likely be the second warmest marathon in recent memory, surpassing the 2014 race when highs topped out at 69 in Boston. This year will fall well short of the 87 scorching degrees back in 2012.
