2 Fall River Women Win Separate $1M Lottery Prizes On Same Day

FALL RIVER (CBS) -- Fortune struck twice on the same day in Fall River last week, as two women started the new year by winning separate $1 million lottery prizes, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Teresa Raposo was making an ATM deposit on Jan. 2 when one of her worn-out $20 bills was rejected by the machine. She used that bill to buy a $10,000,000 Mega Fortune instant game ticket at Red's in Somerset, officials said.

On the same day at a Rite Aid in Somerset, Fall River resident Susan Bell won $1 million on the "Million Dollar Gold" $5 instant game, lottery officials said.

Raposo said she'll use the $650,000 after taxes to pay her bills and make investments, while Bell is eyeing home improvements.
