17-Year-Old Billerica Boy Dies After Being Shot

BILLERICA (CBS) -- A 17-year-old Billerica boy has died after being shot inside his home on June 26, officials say.

In a joint statement relased Saturday night, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Billerica police chief Daniel Rosa said Nicholas Bomboy had succumbed to his injuries shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers were called to Andover Road around 11:35 a.m.

Several people, including Bomboy, were found inside the house. He was taken to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.

Investigators recovered several Air Soft guns and one high-powered pellet gun.

The incident remains under investigation by Billerica police and State Police. The District Attorney's office is overseeing the case.

Authorities say the shooting is not considered a random act and the public is not in danger.
