One Person Dead In Waltham House Fire

WALTHAM (CBS) -- One person has died in a 3-alarm house fire in Waltham, the state fire marshal's office confirmed.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at a single-family home at 48 Abermarle Road shortly before 9:30a.m. on Monday.

Fire crews were able to get into the house to do an initial search but had to withdraw because of the intense heat. Waltham Fire Chief Paul Ciccone said they found a man dead inside once they were able to get back in. The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Phillip Muskalshi.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

There have been 55 fire deaths in the state so far this year.
