Woodstove May Have Caused Fire That Injured Maryland Man
HALFWAY, Md. (AP) -- A western Maryland man is in critical condition after a house fire that may have been caused by a wood-burning stove.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says firefighters found 64-year-old Donald Evans unconscious in his burning home in Halfway in Washington County around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Evans had second- and third-degree burns to his upper torso and was suffering from smoke inhalation. He was taken to a Baltimore hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say the fire began in the living room of the home, where there was a woodstove in operation. Investigators haven't confirmed the cause of the fire.
Firefighters responded to the home after a neighbor saw the fire and called 911.
