Woman shot, killed in parking lot of Parkville apartment complex

BALTIMORE - A woman was shot and killed in the middle of the day in the parking lot of an apartment complex Sunday afternoon in Nottingham.

Police say the woman was shot multiple times at the ReNew Apartment Complex in the 8500 block of Walther Boulevard.

While police search for the shooter, residents at the apartment complex are stunned.

"I thought it was firecrackers," said Jessica Hayostek. "Clearly it was not."

"I heard two shots," a resident said. "Pop. Pop. Then a break and then two of three more shots after that. Pop, pop, pop."

Baltimore County Police said that no arrests have been made.

"Neighbors did say they heard a commotion in the parking lot, so we do believe it was targeted," Baltimore County Police Detective Anthony Shelton said.

Police have not released a lot of information about the shooting yet, but WJZ spoke to several residents who were around when it happened.

A few of them have lived in the complex for a long time.

"I'm shocked," an resident said. "I've never seen nothing like this. I've been living around here for nine years… It's quiet. It's peaceful. It's comfortable. You can walk, sit outside. I've never seen anything like this.

While others just moved in.

"I thought I was moving away from the shooting and stuff, but, I guess, you can never move away from it because it's always going to be around," a resident said.

Police are waiting to notify the victim's family before releasing her name.

In the meantime, if you know anything about this shooting, you're asked to contact police.
