Woman Gets 25 Years For Fatally Stabbing Man In Bar Fight

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man in a bar fight.

Thirty-three-year-old Shelbie Mech pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old John Bowman. She was sentenced Friday in Baltimore County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say on July 7, 2013, Mech stabbed Bowman twice in the abdomen while he was being held by a security guard in the Fishhead Cantina in Arbutus. Bowman died at a trauma center.

Authorities say Mech's husband, 37-year-old Michael Singer, drove her away from the scene after the stabbing.

Singer was convicted of being an accessory after the fact to the murder and was sentenced to a year in prison.
