Woman dies when tree falls on vehicle in Ellicott City

BALTIMORE -- A woman died when a tree fell on the vehicle she was driving Sunday evening in Ellicott City.

Howard County Police said she was driving west on Baltimore National Pike around 5:30 p.m. when a tree fell on the vehicle. She died at the scene, police said.

A woman in another vehicle was taken to the hospital after she struck the tree.

Westbound Baltimore National Pike in that area remains closed, police say.
