Woman Dies After 3-Car Crash In Bethesda

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- An 88-year-old woman has died after the car she was riding in was involved in a serious three-car crash near Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.

Montgomery County police identified the woman Saturday as 88-year-old Betty Nelson of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

County fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says the crash occurred just before noon Saturday on Democracy Boulevard at the ramp from Interstate-270.

Police say the crash involved a Toyota Camry, a county-owned Ford pickup truck and a Mercedes.

Police say Nelson was a passenger in the Toyota. Another adult was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
